Howdy y’all! I’m Marissa!
I’m a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, and drone pilot from Houston, Texas. In 2022, I moved to Florence, Italy where I completed my master's in design at the Florence Institute of Design International (FIDI). I moved back to Houston where I currently work as a designer at Unleaded Marketing.
I believe in creating a story in my design, as engaging storytelling is a crucial element in branding. My deep curiosity allows me to create experiences to transport people on an adventure that resonates with each individual. I’m deeply motivated by my passion for people and creating connections.
For my bachelor’s, I attended Texas Tech University where I graduated summa cum laude, honors with the highest distinction, and received my BFA in Graphic Design with a focus on branding and two minors in Advertising and Electronic Media Communications. I have over 6 years of experience in graphic design working with different firms and companies in marketing or creative departments.
In my years as an artist and graphic designer, I have had the privilege to win two 2020 District Addy Awards, four Gold 2020 Addy Awards (two of which also won Best of Show and Judges Choice), the title of 2019 Semi-Finalist in the Disney Imaginations Competition, and the 2019 Adobe Awards Top Talent.
When I’m not designing, you can find me traveling and experiencing new cultures, cities, food, art, music, nature, and more. My favorite pastime is taking my feisty little dog Rosie hiking (She might only be 11 pounds with 6-inch legs, but don’t tell her that).
I love taking chances and getting out of my comfort zone. I’m a firm believer that you can’t change the world when you’re trying to fit into it, so I refuse to fit in. I never forget how lucky I am that I get to wake up, be 100% present in life, and experience a unique day doing what I love.
